Reference 03
A receipt proves a process ran. It does not turn output into truth.
Under Seal preserves the source, the page pin, the checks performed, the unresolved conditions, the human decision, and the version. The reviewing lawyer still owns the legal and factual conclusion.
Authority review: August 12, 2026. State rules, local rules, contracts, and matter facts still require firm-specific review.
Important boundary
Under Seal is software, not a law firm, auditor, records custodian, or compliance certification. Local deployment reduces particular disclosure and vendor-access risks. It does not by itself satisfy professional-conduct rules, HIPAA, state privacy law, trust-account rules, discovery duties, court orders, or a firm's own policies.
A receipt can establish
- The document version and checksum examined.
- The page or line offered as support.
- Which deterministic checks ran and their results.
- Which pages were unreadable, excluded, or uncertain.
- Who accepted, edited, rejected, or marked an item not found.
- Whether the version satisfied the configured export gate.
A receipt cannot establish
- That the provided record is complete.
- That a source is truthful or authentic.
- That a citation remains good law unless negative-treatment research was separately performed.
- That an inference is legally correct.
- That a court's local rule, standing order, or disclosure rule was satisfied.
- That a human review was competent merely because it was recorded.

Current public evidence boundary
Under Seal is pre-release. Repository tests support specific local controls, including synthetic local encrypted recovery and offline signed-update/rollback drills. Deterministic citation tests also chain valid Id., supra, named, and reporter short forms to a preceding full case citation while blocking orphaned, ambiguous, fabricated, or out-of-coverage antecedents. That does not establish that authority remains good law. Local tests do not yet prove production deployment, independent signing-key custody, target-hardware rollback, a successful firm-specific recovery procedure, cross-firm outcomes, compatibility across a certified hardware matrix, or legal compliance in a particular jurisdiction. Customer-result claims remain unavailable until paid-pilot evidence exists.
